Job summary

Justia, Inc. is seeking a Senior Investigator in the Compliance Department to oversee nurses across public and non-public disciplines for concerns related to substance use, mental health disorders, and practice standards.

The role reviews participant reporting and results across several systems to ensure adherence to legal agreements and Board orders, and communicates findings to participants or attorneys while supporting compliance restoration or case preparation for review.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of state and federal statutes, administrative codes, and nursing practice regulations.
• Ability to write investigative reports with clear findings.
• Interviewing and eliciting information during investigations.

Responsibilities

Job description

This role is assigned as a Senior Investigator to the Compliance department, who oversees nurses in non-public and public disciplines due to substance use, mental health disorders and practice concerns.

Reviews participant’s reporting and results across multiple computer applications to ensure compliance and accountability for all the terms and conditions of legal agreements or Board orders.

Communicates non-compliance to participants and/or attorneys, assists as able to restore compliance or prepares cases for administrative review/action.

Investigates any new conduct or complaints regarding alleged violations of the Nurse Practice Act.

Investigates complex or sensitive allegations of legal or regulatory violations.

Retirement

Knowledge:

• Methods and techniques/principles for applying state and federal statutes, administrative codes, and agency policies related to nursing practice and nursing license regulation
• Requires knowledge in the area of nursing practice, terminology, and meaning of the Nurse Practice Act
• Methods, techniques and principles for writing investigative reports

Skills:

• Identify regulatory violations, and prepare detailed investigative reports with findings and recommendations in accordance with state laws and administrative rules
• Interviewing and eliciting information in an investigation; time management, public speaking, and professional writing
• Skills in extracting and using information from statutes, legal documents, evaluation forms, and related records

Ability:

• Presenting cases in a Board meeting and testify in administrative law hearings as the expert witness
• Prioritize, plan, analyze, coordinate and manage a caseload
• Produce timely and accurate reports and documentation
• Ability to work well with others
• Maintain objectivity
