Job summary

Cook County Health & Hospitals System in Chicago seeks a House Administrator to lead nursing operations in the absence of the Chief Nursing Executive, coordinating with the Administrator on Duty and Administrator On-Call for hospital-wide emergencies.

The role requires BSN, IL RN license, and 5+ years of nursing experience with 3+ years in supervision/management. Responsibilities include resolving staffing issues, supervising patient flow, and ensuring compliance with policies.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing (BSN) from an accredited college or university.
• Licensed as a Registered Professional Nurse in the State of Illinois.
• Minimum five (5) years of nursing experience.
• Minimum three (3) years of experience in nursing supervision/management or hospital administration.

Responsibilities

• Conduct rounds in patient care areas to supervise nursing staff and address family care needs.
• Address patient and family concerns regarding patient care issues.
• Act as first line of authority in settling employee disputes during off hours.
• Review census information to facilitate timely discharges and admissions; authorize transports or transfers.
• Provide guidance for sentinel events and coordinate repairs or equipment with vendors when needed.
• Intervene in incidents involving potentially violent patients and ensure safety procedures.
