Job summary

Ciena Healthcare in Michigan is seeking a Cook for Qualicare Nursing Home to prepare nutritious meals in accordance with menus and dietary restrictions. You will supervise kitchen staff in the absence of the Culinary Manager, ensure safe handling and storage of food, and support resident health and satisfaction.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of safe food handling and sanitation practices.
• Ability to follow recipes, menus and diet orders.
• Ability to read and comply with regulations and safety standards.

Responsibilities

• Supervises culinary staff when chef is absent.
• Handles and stores food per facility procedures and guidelines.
• Prepares foods per menu cycles developed by dietitians.
• Cook/prepare meals at proper temperatures and times.
• Minimizes waste by efficient use of supplies and equipment.
• Maintains clean, safe workspaces and equipment; reports issues promptly.
• Communicates with supervisor to maximize resident satisfaction.
• Assists with survey preparation and responds to inspections as instructed.
