Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent preferred.
• One year experience as a cook in an institutional food service setting preferred.
• Knowledge of safe food handling, sanitation, and infection control practices.
• ServSafe certification required or to be obtained within 90 days of employment.

Responsibilities

• Supervises culinary center staff in the absence of the Chef or Certified Dietary Manager.
• Handles and stores all food according to facility procedures and safety guidelines.
• Follows standardized recipes.
• Prepares foods according to menu cycles developed by Registered Dietitians.
• Cooks meals at proper temperatures and times to ensure quality and safety.
• Prepares and maintains supplies of food alternates to accommodate residents.
• Supervises food storage, preparation, tray assembly, and cleaning.
• Operates institutional food preparation equipment and maintains it per schedules.
• Inspects trays after meals and reports resident feedback to the Dietary Manager.
• Maintains clean and safe workspaces and equipment; reports problems promptly.
• Reports any pest signs to supervisor and communicates with shift supervisor to maximize resident satisfaction.
