Luxor Nursing and Rehabilitation at Mills Pond is seeking a Part-Time Cook to join our skilled nursing facility in St. James, NY. Cook meals following posted menus and diet orders, and ensure safe handling and proper temperatures for all served dishes.

The role requires a High School Diploma or equivalent, the ability to work physically, and experience in food service. You will collaborate with dietary staff to meet nutrition needs and maintain quality standards in a fast-paced kitchen.

Luxor Nursing and Rehabilitation at Mills Pond is actively seeking a Part Time Cookto work at our Skilled Nursing Facility in St. James, NY.

DUTIES:

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Prepare and cook meals according to posted menus, standardized recipes, and diet orders.
• Ensure meals are prepared on time and served at the proper temperature and consistency.
• Follow therapeutic and modified diet guidelines as directed by the Dietitian or Dietary Manager.
• Taste-test food for quality, flavor, and appearance before service.
• Maintain a clean and organized work area at all times.
• Ensure compliance with all food safety, sanitation, and infection control standards.
• Properly store and label all food items; monitor refrigerator and freezer temperatures daily.
• Assist with receiving, rotating, and storing food and supplies.
• Minimize waste through proper portion control and inventory practices.
• Clean and sanitize kitchen equipment, utensils, and food preparation areas.
• Work cooperatively with other dietary staff to ensure timely and efficient meal service.
• Follow all safety policies and report unsafe conditions or equipment immediately.
• Attend required in-service training and staff meetings.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Dietary Manager.

REQUIREMENTS:

• High School Diploma or Equivalent
• Must be able to do some physical work
• Experience in Food Service is a requirement
• Positive attitude and energy is a must!
• Ability to work effectively as a team member
