Job summary

UNTWN Uniontown Hospital is seeking a nursing student for a temporary position to practice across nursing areas under RN supervision. The role emphasizes direct patient care, ADL support, and learning through mentorship with a RN and clinical preceptors.

Students must be in their final nursing program year and obtain Basic Life Support within 30 days of hire. The position typically requires 36 weekly hours and offers hands-on training in a hospital setting.

Qualifications

• Must be entering their final semester/year of Diploma Program, Associate or Baccalaureate RN program of an accredited School of Nursing.
• Obtain certification in Basic Life Support within 30 days of hire date.

Responsibilities

• Assist the registered nurse in providing direct patient care to promote comfort and support diagnostic and treatment procedures.
• Support the patient’s activities of daily living per patient needs and departmental procedures.
• Perform designated procedures following departmental procedures.
• Observe, record, and report patient concerns, symptoms, reactions, and progress to the RN promptly.
• Assist the RN with examinations and procedures as directed.
• Demonstrate competency in basic and intermediate care skills as verified by nursing leadership.
• Demonstrate competency in skills that may be carried out independently or under RN supervision.
• Educate self and assist in peer education; seek educational opportunities to increase competence.
• Attend staff meetings and unit in-services as applicable.
• Assist with indirect care by maintaining a clean, sanitary, and safe environment to prevent infections and ensure safety.
