Job summary

Research Medical Center is seeking an enthusiastic Nurse Extern Student Nurse to gain hands-on experience while in nursing school. You will assist with essential patient care, monitor vitals, and learn alongside licensed nurses in a collaborative environment.

Responsibilities include ADL support, basic nursing tasks, and clear documentation to ensure coordinated patient care. The program emphasizes growth, safety, and adherence to infection control practices within our hospital teams.

Qualifications

• Active enrollment in an RN nursing program with fundamentals completed
• BLS certification must be obtained within 30 days of start date
• Strong communication and teamwork skills required to support patient care

Responsibilities

• Assist with ADLs, monitor vital signs, support mobility and comfort
• Perform basic nursing tasks as experience grows (wound care, catheter care, specimen collection)
• Document care accurately and communicate updates to the nursing team
• Help patients and families understand care plans and recovery guidance
• Maintain clean, safe patient areas and adhere to infection prevention practices
• Partner with supervisor/preceptor to develop a personal career growth plan
