Job summary

Campbell Street in Iowa is seeking a Director of Nursing (DON) to lead the nursing department and ensure high-quality care for residents. You will interpret policies in collaboration with the Director of Clinical Services to support nursing and delegated medical care, while aligning with the Residents’ Bill of Rights and QAPI.

The DON will recruit and retain licensed and non-licensed staff, manage budgets, and ensure staff adherence to federal/state rules, infection control, and restorative

Qualifications

• Graduation from an accredited School of Nursing.
• Current Registration as a Registered Nurse in the state of the facility.
• Current CPR certification and emergency care.
• Three years of experience in skilled nursing and/or assisted living.
• Significant critical care and operations management experience.
• Strong understanding of federal and state regulations including Medicare, Medicaid, and Managed Care reimbursement rules.
• Excellent communication skills and compassionate leadership.

Responsibilities

• Oversee hiring, termination and development of nursing staff.
• Monitor performance and evaluations of nursing staff and recommend promotions or terminations.
• Supervise staffing levels and coordinate staff rotations to meet demand.
• Develop nursing service objectives, policies and procedures and ensure implementation.
• Ensure compliance with Federal and State guidelines; revise procedures as needed.
• Collaborate with elder families, staff and public; screen prospective elders when needed.
• Ensure care plans and elder assessments comply with regulations; monitor dementia care quality.
• Support Restorative Care Program and coordination with contract therapy providers.
• Assist with Departmental budget preparation and equipment purchases.
• Oversee infection control, pharmaceutical and restraint policies; ensure committee recommendations are followed.
