Job summary

Safe Harbor Recovery Center in Portsmouth, Virginia seeks a Director of Nursing to lead and manage nursing services, ensuring safe, patient-centered care. You will oversee staffing, budgeting, policy development, and regulatory compliance while coordinating with interdisciplinary teams to optimize outcomes.

The role requires an RN with a nursing degree and 3+ years of nursing practice, including behavioral health experience; a master’s degree in psychiatric nursing is preferred.

Qualifications

• Requires RN licensure and graduation from an accredited nursing program.
• Master’s in psychiatric/mental health nursing preferred; supervision arrangement if no MSN.
• 3+ years nursing practice experience; 1+ year in psychiatric/behavioral health.

Responsibilities

• Sets vision for nursing practice and directs daily nursing operations.
• Coordinates nursing services with all departments and leadership.
• Ensures standards align with regulatory requirements and accreditation standards.
• Manages staffing, budgeting, scheduling, coaching, and performance assessment.
• Oversees medication management and infection control.
• Participates in strategic planning, budgeting, and quality/safety initiatives.
