Job summary

Avera St Anthony's Hospital is seeking a Nurse Clinical Intern to join our Nursing Service. Under a Registered Nurse mentor, you will apply the nursing process to provide care for patients during rotating day/evening/night shifts.

This role requires the ability to work the specified hours, strong communication, and the desire to grow as part of a multidisciplinary team; completion of most college RN coursework is expected.

Qualifications

• Must be able to work the hours specified.
• Visual acuity and good communication ability required.
• Completed coursework toward RN program and enrolled in CCNE/NLN accredited program.

Responsibilities

• Provide nursing care under RN mentorship, coordinating with health-care team.
• Develop and document nursing care plans based on histories, exams and nursing diagnoses.
• Educate patients and families on conditions, medications and self-care skills.
• Evaluate patient care against standards, adjusting plans as needed.
• Maintain infection control, medication handling and safety procedures.
• Document patient care in records accurately.
• Keep equipment and supplies ready and maintained; assist with repairs as needed.
• Participate in training to enhance nursing capabilities as directed.
