Job summary

Avera Majestic Bluffs/Avera Sister James Care Center is seeking a Nurse Clinical Intern to work under a Registered Nurse mentor. You will support patient care, participate in care planning, and learn nursing processes across a multidisciplinary team.

Primary shifts are 6am-6:30pm with 3-12 hour shifts per week, and weekend/holiday rotation. This role emphasizes bedside care, documentation, and patient-family education within a supportive learning environment.

Qualifications

• Enrolled in CCNE or NLN accredited RN program; coursework in nursing fundamentals.
• Ability to communicate effectively with patients, families and team members.
• Comfort with clinical procedures under RN supervision.

Responsibilities

• Provide patient care under RN guidance; communicate care plan to the health team.
• Develop nursing care plans by reviewing histories and conditions; document status.
• Educate patients and families on condition, medications, and self-care.
• Evaluate and adjust care plans according to outcomes and changes in patient condition.
• Follow infection-control, medication/storage, and regulatory procedures.
• Document care provided in patient records.
• Assist with equipment maintenance, supplies, and preventive checks.
• Assist with training and skill development under leadership.
• Maintain a safe patient care environment and comply with safety standards.
