Job summary

Qualifications

• 2 years nursing experience as a RN or LVN within the last 5 years.
• 6 years nursing experience as LVN and RN combined or 6 years of either.
• BSN or higher with teaching instruction (or CA teaching cert).
• CA teaching cert. completion of teaching courses.
• Minimum 1 year FT teaching experience in an accredited nursing program in CA within last 5 years.
• ADN teaching requirements in CA or meet community college teaching minimums.
• Current active California license as LVN or RN.
• Current CPR Card.

Responsibilities

• Deliver class and/or clinical instruction according to an approved curriculum using accepted and effective teaching methods.
• Supervise students while they work with patients or in the clinical setting, assessing their ability to apply knowledge, master skills, communicate, and plan patient care.
• Develop daily lesson plans; advise, remediate, and tutor students; maintain attendance and grade records; stay current in applicable program teaching field.
• Participate in faculty meetings, professional growth activities, and two in-service training sessions annually.
• Participate in college activities such as in-services, faculty meetings, student functions, graduation exercises, open houses, orientations, and advisory board meetings.
• Strive for student success by providing quality instruction that leads to achievement of academic goals and program requirements; aid retention and job readiness.
