Job summary

Duke Health in Durham, North Carolina, seeks a Nursing Care Assistant II to support patients as part of the surgical care unit team. You will assist with basic care, vital signs, and patient transport under RN/LPN supervision, contributing to safe, compassionate care.

The role requires NA I/II certification with the NC Board of Nursing and BCLS; standing, walking, and lifting are routine. Relocation assistance may be available based on eligibility.

Qualifications

• Completion of Level I Nurse Aide education program approved by the North Carolina Board of Nursing.
• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• NA I and NA II certifications with NC Board of Nursing; BCLS certification maintained.

Responsibilities

• Prepare patients, equipment and supplies for procedures and provide manual assistance.
• Record patient data for medical records and inform RN/LPN of changes.
• Administer basic personal care including feeding, bathing and hygiene tasks.
• Assist with positioning, examinations and wound care under supervision.
• Take vital signs, document I&O and monitor patient condition.
• Assist with admissions, discharges and transportation as needed.
