Job summary

Duke University Hospital in Durham, NC is seeking a Nursing Care Assistant II/Health Unit Coordinator for the Surgical Care Unit. You will support the RN/LPN with patient care, documentation, and unit coordination, while maintaining asepsis and safety for acutely ill patients.

This role requires Nurse Aide I/II certification, a high school diploma, and BCLS certification, with 3–12 hour shifts per week. You will assist with admissions/discharges and manage EMR records and patient charts.

Qualifications

• Completion of Level I Nurse Aide education program approved by the NC Board of Nursing.
• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• BCLS certification must be maintained by end of new hire orientation.

Responsibilities

• Prepare patients, equipment and supplies for procedures and provide manual assistance.
• Obtain and record patient data for medical records and inform RN/LPN of information collected.
• Administer routine personal care including feeding, bathing, dressing and hygiene; assist with comfort and safety needs.
• Assist with admissions, discharge, and transportation of patients.
• Support RN/LPN with patient care and follow established care plans; document care in EMR.
