Qualifications

• United States Citizenship requirement; non-citizens may be appointed only when VA policy allows
• Education or training: one year above high school with courses related to nursing assistant
• Completion of an intensive occupation-related course of study as nursing assistant may meet requirements
• Demonstrated KSAs: ability to provide patient care and participate in nurse care plan

Responsibilities

• Deliver safe resident care in the Community Living Center
• Assist licensed nursing staff and care team in patient care
• Foster privacy, dignity, and resident-centered care
• Explain procedures to residents and obtain cooperation
• Provide complete personal care to Veterans aged 18 and up
• Observe and report changes in patient condition to RN or supervisor
• Contribute to nursing care plan and QA activities
• Maintain safe, clean, and therapeutic environment
