Job summary

Baptist Health in Kentucky is seeking a Nursing Assistant / Transport for the Same Day Surgery unit. Full-time 11am–7:30pm, you will support patient care, assist with pre- and post-operative tasks, and transport patients safely.

You will take vital signs as directed, perform 12-lead EKGs, collect specimens, and help with hygiene and supplies under RN guidance.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within 90 days of hire.
• Ability to perform 12-lead EKGs.

Responsibilities

• Assist with patient care and pre-/ post-operative duties.
• Transport patients safely between the Surgery department and units.
• Take vital signs as directed by RN.
• Handle specimen collection and labeling; phlebotomy as directed.
• Clean medical equipment and manage supplies under RN supervision.

Summary Job Description:

Nursing Assistant / Transport - Same Day Surgery Full-Time 11a - 7:30p The Nursing Assistant supports the Same Day Surgery department by assisting with patient care, pre- and post-operative duties, and the safe, timely transport of patients to and from the Surgery department. Accurately takes vital signs as directed by Registered Nurse. Performs 12 lead EKGs on patients. Transports patients to and from procedures with side rails up. Verifies patient identity using two patient identifiers (name and DOB) prior to transport. Demonstrates ability to perform phlebotomy venipuncture using two patient identifiers and appropriate handling of specimens. Delivers specimens to appropriate lab department and ensures specimen is labeled appropriately as needed. Retrieves blood/tissue from lab as requested. Performs patient care equipment cleaning after each use and documents weekly per policy. Appropriately gives tap water enemas to patients under direction of the Registered Nurse. Assists patients with personal hygiene as directed by Registered Nurse. Obtains stocks and/or transports supplies, including medications, kits and IV fluids as directed by the RN.
