Job summary

Penn Medicine’s Surgical Unit is hiring a Nursing Assistant for full-time night shifts (7:00pm - 7:30am) with 3/12 hour shifts and every third weekend. The role includes patient care, hygiene support, meal assistance and vital sign collection on a busy surgical unit, with cross-training for unit coordination and clerical duties.

Qualified candidates will have HS Diploma/GED; CNA preferred; Basic Life Support may be required.

Qualifications

• Requires HS Diploma or GED.
• CNA preferred but not mandatory.
• Basic Life Support (CPR) certification may be required.

Responsibilities

• Provide age-appropriate patient care in the surgical unit.
• Assist patients with hygiene, dining, mobility and comfort.
• Document care, vitals, and activities accurately for RN review.
• Maintain unit cleanliness and supply management.
• Greet visitors and communicate patient information to the care team.
• Cross-train as Unit Coordinator for clerical duties on the unit.
• Follow policies for equipment use and safety; ensure survey readiness.
