Job summary

Penn Medicine is seeking a Nursing Assistant for the Clinical Decision Unit. The role supports patient care across the unit, assisting with hygiene, meals, vital signs, and charting. Cross-training as Unit Coordinator is possible to handle clerical tasks. BLS is required and CNA credentials are preferred.

Qualifications

• HS Diploma or GED is required.
• 0-1 years of training/experience at an acute care facility or student nurse with hospital-based clinical experience preferred.
• Basic Life Support certification is required.
• Certified Nursing Assistant is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Interacts with patients to preserve dignity and privacy and address psychosocial needs.
• Assist patients with bathing and hygiene, including mouth care, shaving, hair care, and dressing as requested.
• Change bed linens and ensure patient comfort.
• Assist with meals and help patients with feeding when needed.
• Obtain vital signs and weights and document results.
• Greet patients and visitors professionally and communicate unit information to the RN and care team.
• Document patient care accurately and timely per policy.
• Operate equipment properly and maintain unit readiness and quality initiatives.
• Ensure chart forms are properly labeled and managed.
• Perform procedures within hospital policies and procedures.
