Job summary

UCI Health is seeking a Nursing Assistant to support professional nursing staff by delivering direct patient care, recording vital signs, and assisting with hygiene and elimination. You will help maintain a safe, clean unit and stock supplies as directed.

The role requires flexibility to work varied shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays, along with strong communication in English and basic medical terminology. Current BLS certification is required on hire.

Qualifications

• Understanding of basic medical terminology.
• Must be able to work variable shifts including nights, weekends, and holidays.
• Must be able to read, write and speak effectively in English.
• Must be Certified Nurses Assistant or enrolled in accredited nursing program with completion of at least 1 clinical semester.
• Demonstrates the ability to communicate effectively in a therapeutic way.
• Demonstrated patient care experience, preferably in an acute care setting.
• Current BLS certification upon hire (issued by the AHA).

Responsibilities

• Taking and recording vital signs.
• Assisting patients with hygiene and elimination.
• Maintaining a clean and safe unit environment.
• Stocking unit supplies as directed.
• Operating hospital equipment as directed.
• Performing routine clerical tasks.
• Assisting with other related duties as assigned.
