Job summary

UCI Health, part of the University of California, Irvine, seeks a Nursing Assistant to support professional nursing staff in patient care. Primary duties include taking vital signs, assisting with hygiene, and maintaining a safe unit environment.

Ideal candidates have CNAs or are in accredited nursing programs with at least one clinical semester, and a current BLS certificate. Ability to work variable shifts and effective communication are required.

Qualifications

• Understanding of basic medical terminology.
• Able to work variable shifts including nights, weekends and holidays.
• Must read, write and speak effectively in English.
• Certified Nursing Assistant or enrolled in accredited nursing program with completion of at least 1 clinical semester.
• Demonstrates the ability to communicate effectively in a therapeutic way.
• Demonstrated patient care experience, preferably in an acute care setting.
• Current BLS certification upon hire (issued by the AHA).

Responsibilities

• Take and record vital signs.
• Assist patients with hygiene and elimination.
• Maintain a clean and safe unit environment.
• Stock unit supplies and operate hospital equipment as directed.
• Perform routine clerical tasks and assist with other duties as assigned.
