Job summary

UCI Health, part of University of California, Irvine, seeks a Nursing Assistant to support professional nursing teams in patient care. You will take vital signs, assist with hygiene and elimination, and help maintain a clean, safe unit environment, while supporting with equipment and clerical tasks as needed.

Successful candidates will have basic medical terminology knowledge, ability to work varied shifts, and current BLS certification.

Qualifications

• Understanding of basic medical terminology is required.
• Shift flexibility including nights, weekends and holidays.
• English reading, writing and speaking proficiency is required.
• Certification as CNA, LVN, or enrollment in an accredited nursing program with at least 1 clinical semester.
• Ability to communicate therapeutically with patients.
• Experience in patient care, preferably in acute care.
• Current BLS certification at the time of hire (AHA).
• CNAs hired before May 2010 not required to obtain certification now.

Responsibilities

• Take and record vital signs and assist with patient hygiene and elimination.
• Maintain a clean and safe unit environment and stock supplies.
• Assist with routine clerical tasks and operate hospital equipment as directed.
