Job summary

Lake Charles Memorial Health System is seeking a Nursing Assistant to provide safe, compassionate patient care under the supervision of a registered nurse. The role includes assisting with daily living activities, charting using hospital technology, and communicating vital information to staff.

Ideal candidates will have a high school diploma or GED, CNA training, CPR certification, and strong communication skills.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required or preferred.
• Graduate of an approved Nursing Assistant Training Program preferred.
• CPR certification preferred.
• Basic computer skills required.
• Ability to communicate professionally with patients, families, peers and medical personnel.
• Requires emotional stability and maturity; must be adaptable to change, decisive, and show foresight.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrates competency in use of technology and computers for patient charting and related functions.
• Provides physical patient care under the direction of the Licensed Nurse.
• Assists with activities of daily living (showering, bathing, dressing, feeding, activity).
• Communicates abnormal variances of data (vital signs, pain, etc.) to appropriate staff.
• Collects information regarding patient condition: vital signs, intake/output, food intake.
• Participates in best practices: huddles, hourly rounding, bedside reporting, Service Excellence.
