Select Specialty Hospital - Hampton Roads in Newport News, VA is hiring a Nursing Assistant (NA) for full-time night shifts. Compensation is $20.00 - $24.38 per hour with shift differentials and a $3,000 sign-on bonus.

The role supports patient bathing, oral hygiene and feeding, assists with mobility and rounds, transports patients as needed, and maintains clean, stocked rooms. Minimum qualifications include a high school diploma or GED (3+ years experience acceptable) and BLS within 90 days.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED; related work experience (3+ years) accepted.
• BLS certification required within 90 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Bathing patients and performing oral hygiene, oral feeding and hair care.
• Participate in hourly rounds and assist with patient transport to treatment centers.
• Maintain cleanliness and orderliness of patient rooms and equipment.
• Keep stock levels of supplies and equipment as directed.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

• Perform services for patients including bathing using basin-less bath products, oral hygiene, oral feeding and care of hair
• Participate in hourly rounds
• Transport patients to and from various treatment centers when necessary, and assist transporters in moving patients in and out of stretchers and wheelchairs
• Maintain the cleanliness of various instruments and equipment such as bedpans, urinals and wheelchairs
• Keep patients’ rooms in clean and orderly condition
• Maintain unit stock levels of supplies and equipment as directed
• Performs other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications

• High school diploma/GED OR relevant work experience (3+ years)
• BLS is required within 90 days of hire

Preferred Qualifications

• Hospital experience as a nursing assistant, certification as a nursing assistant or experience in a related field (i.e. medical assistant, actively enrolled RN student)
