Job summary

Inova Specialty Hospital in Alexandria, VA is seeking a Nursing Assistant (NA) for full-time night shifts to support our post-ICU patients. This role emphasizes compassionate, patient-centered care during challenging recovery moments.

The NA will assist with bathing, feeding, grooming, and basic patient needs, participate in hourly rounds, and help keep rooms and equipment clean and organized while upholding safety standards.

Qualifications

• High school diploma/GED or relevant work experience (3+ years).
• BLS certification required within 90 days of hire.
• Preferred: hospital experience or CNA certification.

Responsibilities

• Assist patients with bathing, oral hygiene, feeding and personal care.
• Participate in hourly rounds and transport patients as needed.
• Help maintain clean rooms and stock supplies.
• Perform duties as assigned.

• Perform services for patients including bathing using basin-less bath products, oral hygiene, oral feeding and care of hair
• Participate in hourly rounds
• Transport patients to and from various treatment centers when necessary, and assist transporters in moving patients in and out of stretchers and wheelchairs
• Maintain the cleanliness of various instruments and equipment such as bedpans, urinals and wheelchairs
• Keep patients' rooms in clean and orderly condition
• Maintain unit stock levels of supplies and equipment as directed
• Performs other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications

• High school diploma/GED OR relevant work experience (3+ years)
• BLS is required within 90 days of hire

Preferred Qualifications

• Hospital experience as a nursing assistant, certification as a nursing assistant or experience in a related field (i.e. medical assistant, actively enrolled RN student)
