Job summary

Winona Health in Winona, MN is looking for a Nursing Assistant to support Medical/Surgical/Pediatrics, Family Birth Center, and ICU teams. You will assist with daily living activities, take vital signs, and help keep units organized and safe.

Required: High School Diploma, CNA program completion and Minnesota registry, BLS, plus basic computer skills and Cerner familiarity. Starting pay is $16.39–$20.49 per hour with 0.80–1.0 FTE and day/evening shifts.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent.
  • Graduate of an approved CNA program and current Minnesota State Registry.
  • BLS Certification.
  • Knowledge of transfer devices and hospital equipment in MSP/FBC/ICU.
  • Understanding of room order and operation/transport of hospital equipment.
  • Ability to verbalize role in public address codes.
  • Basic computer skills: Word, Excel, Outlook; familiarity with Cerner.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with activities of daily living (toileting, feeding, ambulating).
  • Take weights, reposition patients, record inputs/outputs, and vital signs as directed.
  • Maintain infection control procedures and ensure patient safety.
  • Keep supplies/equipment ready and report malfunctions promptly.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives and assist with codes as directed.

Nursing Assistant
Med/Surg/Peds
0.80 - 1.0 FTE, (64 - 80 Hours a Pay Period)
Days/Evenings, hours between 6:45am - 3:15pm or 2:45pm - 11:15pm
Weekend Rotation: Occasional
Holiday Rotation: Every Third
*Starting Pay Between $16.39 - $20.49 Based on Experience

Position Overview:

The Nursing Assistant is an integral part of the health care team who assists professional nursing personnel in the delivery of patient care in the Medical/Surgical/Pediatrics,Family Birth Center, and Intensive CareDepartments. The Nursing Assistant primarily supports nursing functions as planned and delegated by the professional nurse.In addition to direct patient contact, the Nursing Assistant is responsible for some clerical duties, assisting with maintenance of unit organization, and assisting with codes as directed.

  • Assists patients with activities of daily living to include toileting, feeding, and ambulating.
  • The Nursing Assistant role also takes patient weights, repositions patients, records Inputs and Outputs, and completes vital signsas directed by the professional nurse, and follows recommended infection control procedures during contact with patients.
  • Is constantly vigilant to the safety needs of patients, taking necessary precautions as warranted and communicates concerns to the professional nurse in a timely manner.
  • Assists in maintaining supplies and equipment to enable staff to provide quality and timely care.
  • Reports malfunctioning equipment promptly and removes from patient care area to maintain a safe environment.
  • Participates in and supports continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Skills and Experience:
Required:
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • Must be a graduate of anapproved Certified Nursing Assistant program and must remain current on the Minnesota State Registry as aCertified Nursing Assistant
  • BLS Certification
  • Demonstrates proper use of all transfer devices and various equipment in the MSP/FBC/ICU departments. Successful completion of all training related to using these devices
  • Demonstrates proper room order
  • Demonstrates an understanding of the operation and transportation of hospital equipment including portable oxygen
  • Verbalizes role in public address codes
  • Basic Computer Skills: Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook. Familiar with Patient Information Database (Cerner)
