Job summary

Winona Health is seeking a Certified Medical Assistant for Dermatology in Winona, MN. This is a 1.0 FTE position (80 hours per pay period) with days and hours from 7:30 am to 5 pm; weekends and holidays are not required.

Starting pay ranges between $20.55 and $25.69 per hour based on experience. The CMA will support providers, perform vital signs, administer medications, assist in procedures, document in Cerner EMR, and coordinate patient care at multiple Winona Health locations as needed.

Qualifications

  • Graduate of Certified Medical Assistant Program.
  • Certified Medical Assistant Certification.
  • BLS Certification.
  • Basic computer skills: Word, Excel, Outlook, and Patient Information Database.

Responsibilities

  • Taking vital signs and monitoring patients for physicians.
  • Administration of medications and immunizations as ordered by the physician.
  • Assisting in surgical procedures performed in the office setting.
  • Following all infection control policies and procedures.
  • Performs pre-visit planning for preventive and problem focused visits.
  • Inputting of all applicable data into the EMR (Cerner).
  • Contacting patients with lab results and medication orders as directed by the provider.
  • Coordination and scheduling of care for patients referred for specialty care.
  • Scheduling of procedures, future appointments, or diagnostic studies.
  • Coordinating physician schedule in clinic and/or operating room (OR).
  • Ensuring nursing supplies and medications are properly ordered and available.
  • Scribing for providers.
  • Acts as a mentor for students.
  • Participating in and supporting CSI work and activities.

Position Overview:

The Clinic Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) is responsible for the care of the clinic patients under the direction of the RN or the provider. The CMA is responsible to deliver the highest of customer service standards for patients and families presenting for services at Winona Health. The CMA will perform patient care including rooming of patients, performing observations, and gathering of data for the provider. Patient information will be entered into the Electronic Medical Record (EMR). Direct patient care will include but is not limited to taking of vital signs, monitoring of patients, assistance with treatments, administration of medications, scheduling and coordination of care for patients referred to specialty care, and general assistance to the provider as needed. Must be able to assist at all Winona Health clinic locations if necessary.
