Job summary

Saint Francis Hospital is seeking a Nursing Assistant to support physicians and provide exceptional patient care across a range of conditions. You will collect patient information, assist with activities of daily living, transport patients, collect specimens and ensure supplies are delivered to patient rooms.

The role requires a high school diploma or equivalent, BLS certification, and Connecticut NAE training or related healthcare experience. Drug screening and background checks are required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required or preferred nursing aide training program
• BLS certification required
• Connecticut approved NAE training or related healthcare program with clinical completed considered
• Previous acute care NAs preferred
• Drug screen and background check required

Responsibilities

• Collect and report patient information and data
• Assist patients with activities of daily living including hygiene, diet, fluids, skin care, bathing and dressing, positioning, transfers, mobility and ambulation
• Patient transport
• Specimen collection
• Distribute linens and supplies to patient rooms
• Deliver ice and beverages to patients
• Monitor patient safety for at-risk patients as assigned

Education

High school diploma or equivalent

Connecticut approved Nurse Aide Training Program preferred or in process of earning a BA in Nursing OR Health Sciences with at least one clinical completed

BLS certification

Previous healthcare experience in acute care setting (preferred)

Ability to pass drug screening and background check

Description:

At Saint Francis Hospital the Nursing Assistant is responsible for assisting physicians while providing exceptional treatment to patients with a variety of medical conditions.

What you will do

• Collect and report patient information and data
• Help patients with activities of daily living, including personal hygiene, diet, fluid intake, skin care, bathing and dressing, positioning, transfers, mobility and ambulation
• Patient Transport
• Collection of specimens
• Distribution of linens and supplies to patient rooms
• Deliver ice and beverages to patients
• As assigned, stays with at-risk patients to monitor patient safety

Minimum Qualifications

• Education: High school diploma or equivalent. Graduate of a Connecticut approved Nurse Aide Training Program preferred or in process of earning a BA in Nursing OR Health Sciences with at least one clinical completed OR significant previous healthcare related experience
• Proof with college transcript required OR have significant nurse assistant/healthcare related experience is required
• Certification: BLS certification required
• Previous experience as a Nursing Assistant in an acute care setting preferred
• Ability to pass drug screening and background check
