Job summary

UNC Health (UNC Medical Center) Float Pool seeks Nursing Assistants for a full-time position in Chapel Hill and Hillsborough. Work three 12-hour night shifts, with rotating weekends/holidays, totaling 36 hours weekly. Orientation occurs in Chapel Hill, with duties across hospital units under RN/physician supervision.

Requirements include NC Nursing Assistant I, BLS, and likely six months NA experience. Benefits include PTO accrual and onsite work in UNC Medical Center facilities.

Qualifications

• Listed as Nursing Assistant I with the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
• Professional experience preferred: six months of nursing assistant experience

Responsibilities

• Assist physicians and health care providers with routine examinations and procedures, and procure equipment during emergencies
• Support in psychiatric settings including reality orientation, behavior modification, and de-escalation
• Observe, document patient information and report changes to nurse/physician
• Assist patients and families during admission, orientation, and discharge
• Provide care per plan of care including vital signs, measurements, wound care and activities of daily living
• Provide direct personal care for activities of daily living and hygiene
• Assist in area maintenance, stocking, transporting, and orientation of new staff/students
• Reinforce and document patient education materials
