Job summary

Duke University Health System in Durham, NC seeks a Nursing Care Assistant I to provide direct patient care and support to RNs/LPNs across shifts, including day, night, and weekend hours. This role requires assisting with basic care, ambulation, vital signs, and documentation in the electronic health record within a fast-paced hospital setting.

The NA I will float between Duke University Hospital and affiliated facilities, performing tasks under supervision while maintaining patient comfort,

Qualifications

• Ability to perform basic patient care tasks per RN/LPN directions.
• Proficient in taking vital signs and documenting data.
• Knowledge of infection control and safety procedures.
• Ability to lift/move patients with assistance; physical stamina.

Responsibilities

• Prepare patients, equipment and supplies for procedures.
• Take and record vital signs; monitor I&O.
• Assist with feeding, bathing, dressing, and personal care.
• Support with admission, discharge, and transport.
• Assist with dressing changes and wound care as needed.
