Washington State Department of Veterans Affairs (WDVA) is hiring a Nursing Assistant, Certified, for the Washington Soldiers Home in Orting. The role supports nursing care for Veterans, with a focus on daily living activities, vital signs, and adherence to care plans.

The position tasks include assisting with therapies, lifting residents, monitoring equipment, and maintaining infection control. A valid NAC license and OBRA compliance are required, with a schedule Thursday–Monday, 10:00 PM–6:30

Qualifications

• Active Washington Nursing Assistant, Certified license.
• Current OBRA compliance status.
• Ability to lift 60 pounds and reach 36 inches.
• Clear written and verbal English communication.

Responsabilités

• Actively participates in the resident’s care plan to improve life and safety.
• Supports and encourages resident involvement in daily activities.
• Accurately records vital signs and resident data in EMR; documents intake and output.
• Observes changes in resident conditions and reports to the Licensed Nurse; documents observations.
• Assists with therapies and treatments under licensed personnel, e.g., RN.
• Performs basic daily living activities per the care plan (bathing, dressing, grooming, eating).
• Assists with positioning, transferring, and ambulation.
• Assists with range of motion and other therapies as directed.
• Performs basic nursing procedures under supervision (compression stockings, skin care).
• Monitors equipment, notifies maintenance as needed.
• Uses Hoyer lifts and other equipment to assist resident care.
• Responds to call lights and emergencies; initiates basic lifesaving procedures.
• Cares for resident clothing and personal laundry; maintains clean spaces.
• Maintains infection control and sanitation in rooms and common areas.
• Cleans bedpans, basins, urinals, and other items; performs cleaning tasks.
• Assists in transporting residents and their belongings; supports clinical workflows.
• Familiarizes new Nursing Assistant staff with facility procedures.
