Job summary

University of California - Irvine Health is seeking a Nursing Assistant to support professional nursing staff in patient care. You will take vital signs, assist with hygiene, and help maintain a clean, safe unit while handling routine clerical tasks and equipment operation.

Qualified candidates include CNAs or LVNs or students in accredited nursing programs with at least one clinical semester. BLS is required on hire, and weekend/holiday availability is expected.

Qualifications

• Understanding of basic medical terminology.
• Must be able to read, write and speak English effectively.
• Must be CNA or LVN or enrolled in an accredited nursing program with at least 1 clinical semester.
• Current BLS certification (AHA) at hire.
• Approved workplace violence responder training within 30 days of hire and annually thereafter.
• Ability to work weekends and holidays.

Responsibilities

• Take and record vital signs and assist with patient hygiene and elimination.
• Maintain a clean and safe unit environment and stock supplies.
• Assist with operating hospital equipment as directed and perform routine clerical tasks.
• Support nursing staff with additional duties as assigned.
• Communicate effectively with patients, families, and the care team in a therapeutic manner.
