Job summary

Baptist Health in Corbin, KY is seeking a Nursing Assistant for full-time 1st shift on the 3 South Surgical Unit. You will work under RN supervision, provide direct patient care, and support unit operations in a fast-paced cardiac and post-operative environment.

Requirements include a high school diploma or GED, KY Nurse Aide Certification (or nursing program validation), and Basic Life Support with eligibility to complete if not on hire.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• KY Nurse Aide Certification or completion of first year of Nursing program with clinical validation.
• Basic Life Support required; certificate to be provided within 30 days of hire if not already held.

Responsibilities

• Coordinates and expedites patient flow through evaluation, treatment, admission, discharge, and transfer.
• Monitors patient flow, identifies delays and barriers, and collaborates with leadership to adjust staffing and patient movement.
• Provides and oversees safe, evidence-based nursing care, including patient assessment, care planning, interventions, and evaluation.
• Serves as a clinical resource, mentor, and preceptor while supporting staff education and professional development.
• Assists with daily unit operations, patient safety, and resolution of care concerns.
• Collaborates with interdisciplinary teams and participates in performance and quality improvement initiatives.
• Ensure compliance with hospital policies, infection prevention, safety standards, and emergency preparedness requirements.

Staff develop advanced clinical skills through the care of a diverse patient population requiring cardiac telemetry monitoring.
