Job summary

MedVet is hiring a Nursing Veterinary Assistant in Cincinnati. The role involves supervising patients, assisting with treatment plans, phlebotomy, IV catheter placement, and client education for hospitalized patients.

Proven veterinary experience is required, with strong calculations skills and the ability to adapt to a fast-paced environment. The position offers a full-time schedule, comprehensive benefits, and opportunities for growth.

Qualifications

• Prior veterinary experience required, previous nursing or critical care experience desired.
• Proficient in calculations (drugs, constant rate infusions, unit conversions, etc.)
• Flexibility with work hours and able to work additional hours when necessary
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Responsibilities

• Record and deliver organized rounds, discuss cases and gather additional information as necessary
• Partner with patient care team regarding treatment plans, client communication and nursing care concerns
• Provide client education including, but not limited to: home care instructions, medications (indications, adverse reactions) and general wellness updates on hospitalized patients
• Assist DVM with patient assessment, treatment and procedures
• Provide monitoring and nursing care to hospitalized patients
• Perform in-house laboratory testing and prepare samples for outside laboratory testing

We are looking for:

Nursing Veterinary Assistant

Proposed work schedule: Thursdays and Fridays from 7a-7:30p and every other Saturday and Sunday from 7a-7:30p (full-time schedule)

Never a dull moment in the Nursing department! Our patients need constant supervision to ensure treatment plans are being executed. This department is perfect for someone who can identify patient distress and react accordingly, enjoys phlebotomy, placing IV catheters, assisting with recovery and client follow up and education.

Whatyou’lldo:
