Job summary

MedVet is seeking a Nursing & ICU Veterinary Assistant to join our fast-growing emergency and specialty team. This role supports patient care, assists DVMs, performs phlebotomy, places IV catheters, and helps with recovery and client education in a busy hospital setting.

The ideal candidate has prior veterinary experience, strong math skills for drug calculations, and thrives in a fast-paced environment. This position offers a Thursday-Saturday schedule, competitive hourly pay, comprehensive

• Proficient in calculations (drugs, rate infusions, unit conversions).
• Flexibility with work hours and able to work additional hours when necessary.

Responsibilities

• Record and deliver organized rounds, discuss cases and gather additional information as necessary
• Partner with patient care team regarding treatment plans, client communication and nursing care concerns
• Provide client education including, but not limited to: home care instructions, medications (indications, adverse reactions) and general wellness updates on hospitalized patients
• Assist DVM with patient assessment, treatment and procedures
• Provide monitoring and nursing care to hospitalized patients
• Perform in-house laboratory testing and prepare samples for outside laboratory testing

We are looking for: Nursing & ICU Veterinary Assistant

Proposed Schedule: Thursday - Saturday 9a-9:30p

This role has a hiring range of $17.00-28.00/hr based on experience.

Never a dull moment in the Nursing department! Our patients need constant supervision to ensure treatment plans are being executed. This department is perfect for someone who can identify patient distress and react accordingly, enjoys phlebotomy, placing IV catheters, assisting with recovery and client follow up and education.

What you’ll do:

• Record and deliver organized rounds, discuss cases and gather additional information as necessary

Who you are:

• Prior veterinary experience required, previous nursing or critical care experience desired

• Proficient in calculations (drugs, constant rate infusions, unit conversions, etc.)

• Flexibility with work hours and able to work additional hours when necessary

• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment
