Corewell Health is seeking a Nurse Technician for the Med Surg Care Unit at Big Rapids Hospital (605 Oak St). You will assist nursing staff by taking vitals, monitoring glucose, assisting with activities of daily living, and providing safe patient care during night shifts from 7:00 p.m.

to 7:00 a.m., 36 hours weekly. You will work under the supervision of a Registered Nurse in a collaborative interdisciplinary team, upholding patient privacy, safety, and quality standards while supporting a

• Required High School Diploma or equivalent.
• BLS certification required within 90 days

Big Rapids Campus has a 22 bed medical surgical unit and a 4 bed critical care unit. This campus is the perfect place to gain experience as a new nurse and grow your career! The patient population in Big Rapids is very diverse, it consists of primarily hospitalist medicine patients with a wide variety of diagnosis, some of which include: pneumonia, COPD, cellulitis, kidney failure, and bowel obstructions. Big Rapids has a well-established team that works collaboratively with an interdisciplinary team that includes hospitalists, care managers, social workers, pharmacy, nurse techs, physical therapists, and occupational therapists to provide quality care for our patients

Scope of work

Nurse Technicians act as a team member in the delivery of quality patient care under the supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN). Responsibilities include taking vitals, checking blood sugars, bed bathing, ambulating, wound care, catheterization and acting as a safety attendant for patients. Cleans patient’s environment / work area / equipment and communicates any equipment malfunctions to appropriate department / unit personnel. Demonstrates a high standard of moral and ethical behavior. Advocates for privacy, confidentiality and security of patient, staff and organization data.
