About the unit

Gerber Med Surg is a 13-bed unit with 4 observation beds and 9 inpatient beds. The unit is currently undergoing renovations, including new paint, flooring, and artwork in the halls and patient rooms. It features a new nurse's station, breakroom, and staff bathroom. Gerber Med Surg serves our largest patient population and is a cornerstone of the hospital. We offer telemedicine services in pulmonology, neurology, infectious disease, and wound care, with upcoming telemedicine palliative care services. MRI services are available 6 days a week, along with CT, fluoroscopy, general and orthopedic surgery, care management, and medical social workers onsite, emphasizing our commitment to providing quality local care.

Gerber ICU

Gerber ICU has 11 beds, including 2 observation beds and 9 inpatient beds. The ICU is being refreshed with new paint, flooring, and artwork. It is a mixed unit with both Med/Surg and ICU patients. Telemedicine services are offered in pulmonology, neurology, infectious disease, wound care, and VICU. Upcoming services include telemedical palliative care. The ICU also provides MRI services 6 days a week, along with CT, fluoroscopy, general surgery, orthopedic surgery, care management, and medical social workers onsite, all dedicated to keeping quality care local.

Scope of work

Nurse Technicians are team members responsible for delivering quality patient care under the supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN). Responsibilities include taking vital signs, checking blood sugars, bed bathing, ambulating, wound care, catheterization, and acting as safety attendants for patients. They also clean patient environments, work areas, and equipment, reporting malfunctions to appropriate personnel. Demonstrating high moral and ethical standards, they advocate for patient, staff, and organizational data privacy, confidentiality, and security.
