Corewell Health's Big Rapids Emergency Center is a community hospital and Level IV Trauma Center, dedicated to relationship-based care. Nurse Technicians support RNs by taking vitals, assisting with basic care, and maintaining a safe, clean environment.

The full-time night shift runs 7:00 p.m. to 7:30 a.m. with a 36-hour weekly schedule, comprehensive benefits, and opportunities to grow within a mission-driven team.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
• BLS certification required within 90 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Take vitals, check blood sugars, and assist with bed bathing and ambulation.
• Provide wound care and assist with catheterization as directed by RN.
• Support privacy, confidentiality and safety of patients and staff.

Big Rapids Emergency Department is a community-based hospital that is part of the Corewell Healthcare System. The Big Rapids ED is a certified Primary Stroke Center and Level IV Trauma Center. There are 20 places to treat patients with minor to major medical and traumatic emergencies. Interdisciplinary team members collaborate closely to provide relationship-based care for our patients and their loved ones. Big Rapids ED has over 27,000 visits/year and ranks highly in patient experience and throughput measures. We value teamwork, culture, and process improvement from each member of our team!

Scope of work

Nurse Technicians act as a team member in the delivery of quality patient care under the supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN). Responsibilities include taking vitals, checking blood sugars, bed bathing, ambulating, wound care, catheterization and acting as a safety attendant for patients.

Cleans patient's environment / work area / equipment and communicates any equipment malfunctions to appropriate department / unit personnel.

Demonstrates a high standard of moral and ethical behavior. Advocates for privacy, confidentiality and security of patient, staff and organization data.
