Job summary

Corewell Health’s Big Rapids Emergency Department in Michigan is seeking a Nurse Technician. This full‑time role supports our fast-paced unit with 36 hours per week, typically 7:00 p.m. to 7:30 a.m.

Daily shifts are variable to cover patient care needs in a Level IV Trauma Center and Primary Stroke Center. Responsibilities include vitals, basic patient care, wound care, and assisting RNs while maintaining strict privacy and safety standards.

Qualifications

• Required High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) Cert required within 90 days

Responsibilities

• Taking vitals, including blood sugars.
• Bed bathing and ambulating patients.
• Wound care and catheterization.
• Acting as safety attendant for patients.
• Cleans environment and reports equipment issues.
• Upholds privacy, confidentiality and security of patient and staff data.

Big Rapids Emergency Department is a community-based hospital that is part of the Corewell Healthcare System. The Big Rapids ED is a certified Primary Stroke Center and Level IV Trauma Center. There are 20 places to treat patients with minor to major medical and traumatic emergencies. Interdisciplinary team members collaborate closely to provide relationship-based care for our patients and their loved ones. Scope of work

Nurse Technicians act as a team member in the delivery of quality patient care under the supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN). Responsibilities include taking vitals, checking blood sugars, bed bathing, ambulating, wound care, catheterization and acting as a safety attendant for patients.

Cleans patient’s environment / work area / equipment and communicates any equipment malfunctions to appropriate department / unit personnel.

Demonstrates a high standard of moral and ethical behavior. Advocates for privacy, confidentiality and security of patient, staff and organization data.
