Job summary

State of Iowa's Newton Correctional Facility seeks an experienced Registered Nurse to serve as Nursing Supervisor, providing operational and clinical oversight for nursing staff across the main facility and its CRC satellite. The Nursing Services Director guides the role as you lead a team of 14 direct reports to deliver safe, high-quality care.

Qualifications

RN licensure in the State of Iowa
Bachelor’s degree in Nursing required
One year of full-time professional clinical work experience in a correctional environment or related nursing areas (epidemiology, geriatrics, maternal & child health, nursing education, pediatrics, public health, mental health or psychiatrics, or intellectual disability)

Responsibilities

Supervision & Operations: Direct day-to-day nursing workflows, schedule management, leave/overtime approvals, participate in hiring, and conduct evaluations.
Clinical Oversight: Ensure provider orders, referrals, discharges, and chronic care management are carried out and documented.
Quality & Compliance: Conduct clinical audits, investigate incidents, track metrics, and ensure compliance with Iowa Board of Nursing standards, Department of Corrections policies, and state regulations.
Collaboration & Safety: Partner with interdisciplinary medical/mental health teams and security personnel to maintain a safe, patient-centered care environment.
