Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Nurse Consultant to serve as a liaison between veterans, healthcare providers, and the Department of Veterans Affairs. In this role, you will be responsible for conducting outbound calls to gather, clarify, and document medical information and expert opinions necessary for veterans' disability benefit claims. This position requires strong communication skills, clinical judgment, and knowledge of VA processes and regulations.

Responsibilities
- Contact veterans, physicians, and other healthcare professionals to obtain medical histories, treatment details, and professional medical opinions related to VA disability claims.
- Review medical records and clarify discrepancies or gaps in documentation relevant to service-connected conditions.
- Summarize and document medical opinions clearly and accurately in accordance with VA guidelines.
- Educate healthcare providers on the specific information required for VA disability evaluations, including nexus opinions and residual functional capacity assessments.
- Collaborate with claims processors, case managers, and VA representatives to ensure timely and complete case development.
- Maintain confidentiality and compliance with HIPAA and VA regulations.
- Stay up to date on changes to VA benefits policies, medical evidence requirements, and applicable legal standards.
Qualifications
- Active RN (Registered Nurse) license in good standing (multi-state or state-specific, depending on jurisdiction).
- Minimum of 2 years of clinical experience (VA or military healthcare experience preferred).
- Familiarity with VA disability benefits process and terminology.
- Strong interpersonal, organizational, and time-management skills.
- Proficient in electronic medical record systems and Microsoft Office applications.
- Ability to communicate complex medical information in an accessible and professional manner.
Preferred Experience:
- Prior work in medical case management, utilization review, or a related field.
- Experience working with veterans or veteran service organizations.
- Knowledge of VA DBQ (Disability Benefits Questionnaire) forms and C&P (Compensation & Pension) exams.
