Job summary

Highmark Health seeks a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to join our care delivery team in the Pittsburgh area. The role involves providing specialty and chronic care in physician offices and non-acute settings, with travel to satellite offices 1-2 days per week.

E-consults and telehealth may be included in patient care. The position requires a master's degree, NP or PA certification, active licensure and prescriptive authority, and ongoing compliance with credentialing and HIPAA

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Nursing (MSN) from an approved program and state board.
• National Board Certification for Nurse Practitioners through an accredited body.
• Active state licensure as a Nurse Practitioner with prescriptive authority.

Responsibilities

• Provide patient care including medical history, physical assessment, therapeutic care planning, diagnostic orders, result interpretation, discharge planning, and EMR documentation.
• Collaborate with attending physician on plan of care and clinical decisions outside the CRNP scope.
• Make medical diagnoses and initiate appropriate therapy within scope of practice.
• Order and interpret laboratory, radiology, and other diagnostic tests to guide treatment.
• Educate patients and families on health, illness prevention, medications, and available resources.
• Document accurately in the EMR to support coding and billing and communicate pertinent information to the attending physician.
• Participate in patient safety, quality improvement, and ongoing professional development.
