Job summary

Henry Ford Health is seeking a contingent Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to join our Cardiothoracic Surgery team. This inpatient, operating room-based role provides care for high-acuity adult cardiac surgery patients in a fast-paced, highly specialized environment.

You will perform evaluations, rounds, and postoperative plans, while assisting in procedures and ensuring patient safety under supervision.

Qualifications

• Master's degree required for NP/PA
• Current Michigan licensure as NP or PA is required
• National certification (ANCC, AANP, or NCCPA) required
• BLS and ACLS certification required
• EVH certification preferred
• First/Second Cardiac Surgery Assisting certification preferred

Responsibilities

• Provide advanced assessment, differential diagnosis, and clinical decision-making in collaboration with cardiothoracic surgeons
• Deliver pre-, intra-, and post-operative care for cardiac and thoracic patients
• Perform patient evaluations, document histories, conduct rounds and exams, and prepare discharge summaries
• Assist in surgical procedures, including endoscopic vein harvesting and first/second assisting in cardiothoracic operations
• Formulate and implement post-operative treatment plans under physician supervision
• Maintain BLS/ACLS certification and adhere to department protocols and guidelines

• Perform patient evaluations, document histories, conduct rounds and physical examinations, and prepare discharge summaries
• Assist in all surgical procedures, including endoscopic vein and radial artery harvesting, and first/second assisting in cardiothoracic operations
• Formulate and implement post-operative treatment plans under physician supervision
• Maintain current BLS/ACLS certification and adhere to department protocols and guidelines

Qualifications

• Master's degree from an accredited Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant program
• Current Michigan licensure as NP or PA
• National certification (ANCC, AANP, or NCCPA)
• Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification
• Endoscopic Vein Harvesting (EVH) certification
• First/Second Cardiac Surgery Assisting certification
• DEA registration and Michigan Controlled Substance License (PA only); DEA registration (NP only)
