Job summary

Henry Ford Health is seeking a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to join the Cardiothoracic Surgery team. You will deliver specialized care to critically ill patients, collaborating with experienced cardiothoracic surgeons and intensivists in the postoperative period.

Your role includes predominantly inpatient evaluations and procedures, with outpatient follow-up and clinic consultations, plus documentation and quality-improvement contributions, and participation in on-call rotation.

Qualifications

• Master's degree from an accredited Nurse Practitioner (CCNE/NLNAC) or Physician Assistant (ARC-PA) program.
• Current Michigan licensure as a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant (or proof of application on file).
• National certification: ANCC or AANP (NP) or NCCPA (PA).
• Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification.
• Cardiothoracic Surgical First Assist certification.
• DEA registration and Michigan Controlled Substance License (PA only); DEA registration (NP only).

Responsibilities

• In the inpatient setting (75% of your time), you'll conduct comprehensive patient evaluations, perform procedures as appropriate to your training and credentials, manage medications and therapeutic interventions, and provide patient and family education.
• Your outpatient responsibilities (25% of your time) include follow-up care for post-surgical patients and clinic consultations.
• Maintain detailed medical documentation and contribute to quality improvement initiatives, staying current with evidence-based practices in cardiothoracic surgery and critical care.
• Participate in on-call rotation, covering weekends every third week to ensure continuous, high-quality patient care.
