Job summary

Wexford Health Sources, Inc. seeks a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant for our South Central Regional Jail facility in Charleston, WV.

This part-time, onsite role works within a multidisciplinary team under the Medical Director to assess, treat, and coordinate care for inmates. The ideal candidate has graduate NP/PA training, an active license, DEA and CPR, strong diagnostic skills, and a collaborative, compassionate approach to care.

Qualifications

• Graduate from an accredited NP or PA program.
• Active unrestricted NP or PA license in the state of practice.
• DEA license and CPR certification required.
• Strong diagnostic skills and ability to work independently within scope.
• Collaborative mindset and compassionate, nonjudgmental care.

Responsibilities

• Perform history and physicals, order labs and diagnostics, and manage treatment plans.
• Prescribe medications, administer injections, wound care, and minor procedures.
• Counsel patients on medical issues, preventive care, and prescribed treatments.
• Coordinate patient care and specialty referrals for continuity.
• Document clinical encounters in the EMR system and participate in rounds.

SCHEDULE: Part Time

FACILITY: South Central Regional Jail (onsite)

LOCATION: Charleston, West Virginia

Position Summary

As a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant at our facility, you'll serve as a key medical provider within a multidisciplinary team. Under the supervision of the Medical Director, you'll assess and treat acute and chronic conditions, perform physical exams and minor procedures, and coordinate care in collaboration with nurses, physicians, and security staff. Responsibilities include:

• Performing history and physicals, ordering labs and diagnostics, and managing treatment plans
• Prescribing medications and administering injections, wound care, and minor procedures
• Counseling patients on medical issues, preventative care, and prescribed treatments
• Coordinating patient care and specialty referrals to ensure continuity of services
• Documenting all clinical encounters and interventions in the EMR system
• Monitoring patient conditions and participating in daily rounds and screenings
• Collaborating with nursing staff and security to promote safe, effective care delivery
• Guiding and supporting nursing personnel and assisting in staff orientation when needed
