Wexford Health Sources, Inc. is recruiting a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant for Western Virginia Regional Jail in Salem, VA.

You’ll serve as a key medical provider within a multidisciplinary team, under the Medical Director, assessing and treating patients with acute and chronic conditions and coordinating care with nurses, physicians, and security staff. You’ll perform exams, order labs, prescribe medications, provide preventative care, document in the EMR, and participate in rounds

Qualifications

• Graduate from an accredited NP or PA program.
• Active unrestricted Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant license in state of practice.
• Active applicable Controlled Substance Registration/License/Certification in state of practice.
• Active DEA license required.
• Active CPR certification required.
• Strong diagnostic skills and ability to work independently within your scope.
• A collaborative mindset and a compassionate, nonjudgmental approach to care.

Responsibilities

• Assess and treat acute and chronic conditions within scope.
• Perform history and physicals, order labs, and manage treatment plans.
• Prescribe medications and administer injections, wound care, and minor procedures.
• Counsel patients on medical issues and preventative care.
• Coordinate care and referrals to ensure continuity of services.
• Document all encounters in the EMR system.
• Participate in daily rounds and coordinate with staff for safe, effective care delivery.
• Support staff orientation and education as needed.

Position Summary

As a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant at our facility, you’ll serve as a key medical provider within a multidisciplinary team. Under the supervision of the Medical Director, you’ll assess and treat acute and chronic conditions, perform physical exams and minor procedures, and coordinate care in collaboration with nurses, physicians, and security staff. Responsibilities include:

• Performing history and physicals, ordering labs and diagnostics, and managing treatment plans
• Prescribing medications and administering injections, wound care, and minor procedures
• Counseling patients on medical issues, preventative care, and prescribed treatments
• Coordinating patient care and specialty referrals to ensure continuity of services
• Documenting all clinical encounters and interventions in the EMR system
• Monitoring patient conditions and participating in daily rounds and screenings
• Collaborating with nursing staff and security to promote safe, effective care delivery
• Guiding and supporting nursing personnel and assisting in staff orientation when needed
