Job summary

SouthStar Urgent Care in Shreveport, LA, invites Nurse Practitioners or Physician Assistants to join our expanding urgent care and occupational medicine team. This outpatient role focuses on delivering high-quality care with a broad scope of urgent procedures and coordinated referrals.

You will collaborate with experienced clinicians in modern facilities, enjoying comprehensive benefits and a supportive environment that values your voice.

Qualifications

• Current, unrestricted NP or PA license in the state.
• DEA licensure.
• Knowledge of treatment and drug interactions.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to obtain DOT certification within 60 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Provide outpatient care including urgent care procedures.
• Deliver care, treatment, and referrals.
• Arrange referrals for specialties not provided by the organization.
• Assess patients and establish diagnosis and treatment plans.
• Document thoroughly in the EMR with CDI focus.
• Perform occupational and telemedicine patient care.
• Oversee non-patient facing duties such as lab and X-ray review.
• Support Medical Director with duties as assigned.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

• Provide patient care on an outpatient basis to include procedures normally performed in an urgent care setting
• Responsible for the delivery of care, treatment, and referrals.
• Arrange for referral resources for those medical specialties not provided by the organization for patients of the clinic
• Evaluate patients to determine the medical condition of the patient, through the performance of physical examinations, thereby, establishing a diagnosis and proposed treatment plan
• Perform such clinical procedures for patient's benefit which are within scope and skill of practitioner
• Communicate information to patients regarding diagnosis and treatment goals
• Maintains accurate, complete, concise, and timely documentation with a focus on proper level coding and clinical documentation integrity (CDI) in the electronic medical record
• Ability to perform occupational and telemedicine patient care
• Perform non-patient facing duties such as lab and x-ray review
• Perform other job-related duties as may be assigned by the Medical Director

What’s Required:

• Current, unrestricted PA or NP license in the state or the ability to obtain
• Ability to obtain:DOT certification within 60 days of hire

Compensation:

Pay is based on experience, skills and falls within an established range.
