SouthStar Urgent Care in Marksville, LA is seeking a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to deliver outpatient care in a growing urgent care and occupational medicine team.

You will assess patients, develop diagnoses, and manage treatment plans while collaborating with a multidisciplinary team. The role includes procedures, documentation, and potential telemedicine work, with compensation based on experience and a supportive work environment.

Qualifications

• Current, unrestricted PA or NP license in Louisiana.
• Ability to obtain DOT certification within 60 days.
• DEA licensure.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide outpatient care in an urgent care setting.
• Deliver treatment plans and referrals.
• Arrange referrals for specialties not provided by the organization.
• Evaluate patients and establish diagnoses and treatment plans.
• Perform clinical procedures within scope and skill.
• Explain diagnosis and treatment goals to patients.
• Maintain accurate documentation and coding in EMR.
• Support occupational and telemedicine patient care.
• Review labs and x-ray results.
• Perform other duties as assigned by Medical Director.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

• Provide patient care on an outpatient basis to include procedures normally performed in an urgent care setting
• Responsible for the delivery of care, treatment, and referrals.
• Arrange for referral resources for those medical specialties not provided by the organization for patients of the clinic
• Evaluate patients to determine the medical condition of the patient, through the performance of physical examinations, thereby, establishing a diagnosis and proposed treatment plan
• Perform such clinical procedures for patient’s benefit which are within scope and skill of practitioner
• Communicate information to patients regarding diagnosis and treatment goals
• Maintains accurate, complete, concise, and timely documentation with a focus on proper level coding and clinical documentation integrity (CDI) in the electronic medical record
• Ability to perform occupational and telemedicine patient care
• Perform non-patient facing duties such as lab and x-ray review
• Perform other job-related duties as may be assigned by the Medical Director

What’s Required:

• Current, unrestricted PA or NP license in the state or the ability to obtain
• Ability to obtain:DOT certification within 60 days of hire
• DEA licensure
• Knowledge of treatment and drug interactions
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

Compensation: Pay is based on experience, skills and falls within an established range.
