Job summary

Texas Health Plano is seeking a Registered Nurse Practitioner in Neurosurgery to join a team of fellowship-trained neurosurgeons and neuro-interventional radiologists. The role supports a Level II Trauma Center and Comprehensive Stroke Center with a dedicated neuro ICU and units, performing trauma, spine, interventional and brain surgical cases.

Requires RN licensure, NP credentialing, and ACLS; acute care certification preferred.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited nursing program is required.
  • Master’s degree in Nurse Practitioner program is required.
  • CLIA regulations for foreign education equivalency must be met.
  • 2 years NP experience preferred.
  • Acute Care certification preferred.
  • RN license required at hire; APRN/NP credentials required at hire.

Responsibilities

  • Obtain comprehensive health histories and formulate a care plan.
  • Perform advanced health assessments to distinguish normal from abnormal findings.
  • Synthesize physiology, pathophysiology, culture and socioeconomics to provide therapies.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary team to improve care continuity.
  • Perform specialty procedures safely and proficiently.
  • Contribute to unit programs and research to improve patient care quality.
  • Identify inefficient processes and implement improvements.

Work Hours: Full Time, 40 Hours; 4 10 hour days with rotating weekend coverage

Neuro Department Highlights

  • Fellowship trained Neurosurgeons and Neuro Interventional Radiologists

Here’s What You Need

  • Bachelor’s Degree Graduate of an accredited nursing program required and
  • Master’s Degree Graduate of Nurse Practitioner program required
  • Other – CLIAFE Must comply with CLIA regulations regarding foreign education equivalency required
  • 2 years of experience as Nurse Practitioner preferred
  • Acute Care certification highly preferred
  • 1 year experience in Neuro preferred
  • RN – Registered Nurse upon hire required
  • APRN – Advanced Practice Nurse upon hire required and
  • NP – Nurse Practitioner upon hire required
  • BCLS – Basic Cardiac Life Support prior to providing independent patient care and maintained quarterly required and
  • ACLS – Advanced Cardiac Life Support within 30 days preferred
  • Other – Must be credentialed by Medical Staff Services upon hire required

Here’s What You Will Do

  • Utilizes principles and skills in communication and interviewing techniques in obtaining a comprehensive health history to formulate a plan of care and make decisions for appropriate therapeutic interventions
  • Uses principles and skills in advanced health assessment for differentiating normal and abnormal findings
  • Synthesizes knowledge of physiology, pathophysiology, culture, and socioeconomics to access, evaluate, and provide therapeutic interventions to patients
  • Collaborates with the multidisciplinary team to improve care processes in order to promote continuity of care
  • Takes action to reduce patients risksPerforms specialty specific technical procedures safely and proficiently
  • Demonstrates contribution to unit based programs and research strategies to monitor and continuously improve the quality of patient care
  • Assist in the identification of ineffective and costly processes and take actions to improve those processes
