Qualifications

• Master's Degree in Nursing is required.
• NP Certification in specialty area is required.
• 5 years directly related experience (some supervisory preferred).
• New York State License with current registration as a registered professional nurse.
• Certification in specialty area preferred.

Responsibilities

• Oversees clinical operations within the program and uses data-driven methods to improve processes and outcomes.
• Recruits, orients, trains, coaches, counsels, mentors, disciplines, and evaluates staff per policies and procedures.
• Develops and maintains departmental budget and financial oversight.
• Plans and maintains departmental standard operating procedures and reviews policies for updates.
• Coordinates educational and performance improvement activities with Nursing, Medical and Quality Leadership.
• Develops action plans to support clinical performance and provides educational resources to departments.
• Establishes short and long-term goals, policies and procedures for high performance.
• Leads day-to-day educational program activities aligned with objectives.
• Oversees collection and analysis of clinical activity data to evaluate performance.
• Provides technical assistance and education to clinical specialties regarding orientation and competency.
• Serves as a clinical role model and resource for nursing staff.
• Prepares reports on orientation, ongoing competency, and performance evaluation.
• Produces status reports highlighting patterns and trends requiring action.
• Collaborates with healthcare team on policies and standards of care.
• Ensures compliance with hospital, departmental, and regulatory standards (e.g., Joint Commission).
• Incorporates budget considerations into program development and resource allocation.
• Keeps professional knowledge current through education and professional involvement.
• Participates in performance appraisal of designated nursing staff.
