MEDIKO is seeking a Nurse Practitioner (FNP) to deliver high-quality medical care to inmates at Bedford County Jail, Bedford, PA. You will assess, diagnose, plan treatments, prescribe medications, and educate patients while maintaining HIPAA-compliant records and a safe clinical environment.

This part-time, day-shift role involves one 8-hour shift and one 4-hour shift per week, with modest scheduling by Mon/Tue/Thu/Fri.

Qualifications

• Unrestricted state license required.
• DEA registration if applicable.
• Board certification in a relevant specialty preferred.
• 3–5 years of clinical practice; correctional/underserved setting preferred.
• Active CPR/BLS certification required.

Responsibilities

• Provide high‑quality medical care to inmates, including assessments, diagnoses, and treatment plans.
• Prescribe medications and order appropriate tests.
• Maintain accurate medical records and ensure HIPAA compliance.
• Collaborate with healthcare and correctional teams to ensure comprehensive care.
• Provide on‑call coverage as needed.

The Nurse Practitioner will provide high-quality medical care to patients in a correctional healthcare setting, including assessments, diagnoses, treatment plans, and patient education. This role will collaborate with the healthcare team to ensure comprehensive care delivery and will prescribe medications, perform procedures, and manage chronic conditions. The Nurse Practitioner will also maintain accurate medical records and ensure compliance with healthcare regulations and facility policies.

• Perform assessments, diagnose, and treat patients, including prescribing medication and ordering appropriate tests.

• Promote good working relationships within the medical team and across other disciplines and departments to enhance patient care and operational efficiency.
• Approach changes positively, motivating the team to embrace improvements and accept constructive feedback to enhance the work environment.
• Ensure adherence to quality assurance standards by consistently performing thorough and accurate clinical tasks.
• Participate in medical activities that foster growth and development for both medical professionals and patient care.
• Maintain professional standards and accountability for own conduct and appearance at all times.
• Respect and adhere to the facility's safety, infection control, and operational policies, ensuring a safe and effective healthcare environment.
• Accept staffing assignments and perform additional duties as required, demonstrating flexibility in a dynamic environment.
• Collaborate with medical and correctional staff to ensure smooth operations, resolve issues, and enhance patient care delivery.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

What we Ask of YOU:

• A current, valid, and unrestricted state license
• For advanced clinical roles, completion of an accredited graduate or professional program (e.g., medical school, dental school, nurse practitioner program, etc.) is required.
• A current, valid DEA registration, if applicable.
• Board certification in a relevant specialty is preferred, if applicable.
• Minimum of 3-5 years of clinical practice, with at least 1-2 years in a correctional healthcare or underserved population setting preferred.
• Experience in diagnosis, treatment planning, and providing healthcare services in a managed care or correctional facility setting is highly preferred.
• Active CPR/BLS certificate required (American Heart Association/American Red Cross guideline approved).
